Robert Burns, Scotland’s best-loved bard, was born January 25, 1759, in Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland. Burns Suppers have been held in his honor for over 200 years. Among the Scots, his best-known poems are Auld Lang Syne and Ode to a Haggis.
